Some, of many, images from our trip on the Polar Star in January 2005. From Ushuaia, the town that brands itself as being at the end of the world. Which is true but the lupins en-masse looked pretty familiar. Down the Beagle Channel and then across the Drake Passage, otherwise described as God's laboratory for seasick pills, though we were lucky. Landfall on and then around, the Antarctic Peninsula. Lucky again on the Drake Passage return.

Many thanks to everyone concerned particularly Jørn (a degree in commanding and cajoling groups? Whatever will the Norwegians think of next?), John the much travelled and Captain Oscar. All those good things that you've heard about the views, wildlife and the trip experience generally, are true. That being said it is possible to overdose on penguins. But for me, not on icebergs (no apologies Claude), which provide an awesome variety of colours and textures.
